Strategic Partnership: ACOM AgroComponentes

AgriVectHor installation: Pre-Assembled Vertical Bifacial Solar Panels with Reflectors for solar energy production by FutureVoltaics

In November 2022, FutureVoltaics entered into a strategic partnership with ACOM AgroComponentes, a leading player in the AgriTech industry, to develop an AgriVoltaic version of the VectHor technology: AgriVectHor. This innovative version is designed to maximize land use by combining high agricultural yields with high photovoltaic electricity generation.

An ongoing project is being developed to test the capabilities of AgriVectHor, also in partnership with CSIC.

Since the formulation of the initial concept of the VectHor technology in 2019, several new prototypes were developed and tested at the IMN-CSIC experimental solar facility, ensuring rigorous validation of their potential.

One of the most significant milestones came in 2023 with the deployment of a preliminary version (TRL 6) of the VectHor system on the CSIC rooftop. This setup delivered a 33% higher yearly energy yield compared to the conventional 30º south bifacial solar system.
Soltec played a pivotal role in supporting innovation, enabling FutureVoltaics to externally validate its technology in a real-world setting. The tests demonstrated that VectHor delivers higher energy production on sunny days compared to static conventional systems and performs similarly to a tracker, showcasing its ability to provide the benefits of increased energy output without moving parts. The collaboration, conducted in a relevant environment and achieving TRL 6, solidified VectHor's credibility as a high-performing innovation in the photovoltaic sector.
Using the commercial version of our VectHor system, the initial performance achieved a 31% higher energy output and 48% increase in revenue, compared to the conventional 20º bifacial south-facing system. The advantages are even more pronounced when compared to 10º east-west solar systems (70% higher energy output), which are the mainstream competitors in Spanish rooftops.
