In May 2024, we completed the installation of a 4kW solar plant featuring the commercial version of our VectHor system on the rooftop of our Madrid factory. This project, spotlighted in PV Magazine, marks an important milestone in showcasing the efficiency and potential of our groundbreaking solar technology.
While there is potential to increase the reflectivity of the system’s reflectors by an additional 20%, which would boost the energy output by 12%, the initial performance observed in the first few months has been very promising. To evaluate the system’s efficiency, we monitored the performance of both the VectHor system and a conventional 20º bifacial south-facing PV system, while also tracking real-time spot market prices from OMIE to capture the typical fluctuations driven by solar generation.
The results shown above are striking:
- The VectHor system achieved a 31% higher energy output (measured in kWh per kW installed) compared to the conventional 20º bifacial south-facing system.
- Additionally, it captured 13% more value from the electricity generated, as reflected in the dynamic spot market prices (€/kWh).
- As a result, revenue saw a 48% increase in € per kW installed, highlighting the significant financial advantage of the VectHor technology.
The advantages are even more pronounced when compared to 10º east-west solar systems, which are the mainstream competitors in Spanish rooftops, showcasing the potential of this innovative solution.
